Supporting SSAGQ Students - For Student Welfare Staff
Tuesday 13th March 3pm - 5.30pm
This session will explore:
What do do when a student 'comes out'
Challenging transphobic or homophobic ideas and behaviours
Supporting students to Stand Out against homophobia or transphobia
Working with families and the whole school community
Introductory Sessions:
Tuesday 6th March 9.30am - 3.30pm
Thursday 8th March 9.30am - 3.30pm
Intro sessions will explore;
What makes a safe school and what difference does it make?
What is the impact of homophobia on young people?
How can you challenge homophobia in your school and classroom?
How can you develop more inclusive teaching and learning?
What support do same sex attracted and gender diverse students need?
How can you support student led activism to celebrate diversity?
Using the latest research on the impact of homophobia in schools, we draw on best practice from Australia to prepare participants with knowledge, skills, ideas and resources to challenge homophobia and create safe, inclusive schools.
Consultancy
Schools can also book a special tailored consultancy with SSCV to address a specific issue, concern or student welfare need.
